Description

2-storey, symmetrical 3-bay W facing house. Whitewashed rubble; whitewashed single storey extension at S gable with rubble flanks. Centre door masked by later gabled porch 12-pane glazing; end stacks; local slate roof. Tuskers and blocked doors at N gable indicate former adjoining house or later extension. Lean-to addition across rear elevation.

MacRobert House forms part of the Highland Folk Museum centred on former Pitmain Lodge sited next door. Slates for roof probably from quarries in Glen Banchor, Newtonmore. (Historic Environment Scotland List Entry)

Development History
16 October 2020: Property last in use as part of the Highland Folk Museum, now relocated to a new site at Newtonmore. Building may have remained disused since relocation of museum. For Investigation.
1 September 2021: External inspection shows slipped slates and temporary covering of tarpaulin on some sections of roof. The render on chimneys is cracking and has small areas coming away from masonry. Loss of render is some areas on principle elevations. Windows have been secured with metal grating and efforts to limit access with Heras fencing around property. Building does not appear to be in use at time of visit. Moved to At Risk.
23 February 2024: Consents for change of use ( 22/00925/FUL & 22/01503/LBC) to form a holiday let have been conditionally approved.
