Bridge Keeper's Cottage, Ferrydyke Bridge, Kilpatrick

Two storey rendered yellow sandstone former bridge-keeper's cottage built into the embankment. Slated roof and ashlar chimney stacks are extant to the eastern section of the building. To front elevation, 5 bays, to rear 2-storey, also 5 bays. To the immediate West of the building are the remaining walls to former stables. Both structures constructed to serve the Forth and Clyde Canal.

9 September 2021: External inspection finds the building a roofless ruin, with the exception of a section retained to the eastern gable, presumably as a result of fire-damage - scorched timbers being visible in the interior. Whilst the walls are relatively plumb, dampness is an issue to the rear elevation. Long cracks to the render are evident notably at gable corners and in the rear elevation. Openings are secured with the exception of the 2nd storey rear elevation.

Post Survey Update: Scottish Canals advise the property was sold to a private restorer around 2007 and is no longer in their ownership.
