Development History
19 April 2021: Nominated by a member of the public. The Dundee Courier reported the building was due to close by the end of the year having been sold to developers (18/11/19). The building has been boarded up and high level vegetation growths are visible. Move to For Investigation.
17 December 2021: External inspection finds roof only partially visible. Plant growth on parapets and parapet gutters evident, along with cracked and slipped slates on south pitch. Some areas of damp and spalling/crumbling visible on walls, especially on columns and lintols. Doors are boarded up. Building appears to be completely boarded up and disused. Areas of damp externally suggests there may be problems inside. The building is in need of basic maintenance including the removal of plant growth and clearing of gutters.
8 July 2022: BARR is contacted with photographs of the building illustrating buddleia growth has taken hold within the immediate boundaries of the property and is beginning to establish within the building's stonework.
16 February 2024: The local planning authority advises that it is understood that the building sold in 2023, but was advertised for off-market sale as of December 2023. It also advises that a scoping study was commissioned in 2023 by Cupar Arts, Cupar Heritage & Museum and Three Estates Cupar with a view to considering the building as the site a new arts and culture centre. According to the Cupar Arts website, the building is the focus of their main campaign for 2024.
18 July 2024: Local councillor advises there have been breaches to the window boarding and the police have been contacted regarding people attempting to access the building. The building remains disused.
