Cast-iron fountain with high quality sculptural detail; low outer basin, plinth set central within, with 4 seated figures at foot, open top a version of the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates; small basin raised above. (Historic Environment Scotland List Entry)

14 March 2023: Nominated by member of the public as in a badly dilapidated condition with widespread corrosion issues and non-operational plumbing.

28 June 2023: External inspection finds the fountain to be inactive. There are areas of peeling paint and some signs of superficial rust, especially on the plinth and lower decorative elements. The structure appears stable. There is light vegetation growth on the base of the plinth. The water in the lower basin is stagnant and littered with rubbish. There is little graffiti and the surrounding area appears to be well-maintained. Move to At Risk. Condition set to Fair and Risk set to Low.

Post Survey Update: The Friends of Alexandra Park have started a crowd funder appeal for the fountain's restoration.
