Development History
15 March 2023: Nominated by member of the public concerned with buddleia growth and cracking of the dome. Added to For Investigation
24 August 2023: Inspection finds the structure has been fenced-off along with an adjacent subterranean public toilet. The memorial's lean is of long-standing, some sources suggest it was first evident in the 1920s. There are now areas of damage to the western elevation - missing and cracked tiles to the dome, and to a column. A sapling has established to the eastern slope of the ogee dome. The granite base appears sound, there is some mortar loss and vegetation is beginning to establish in open joints. To the interior dampness and salts are evident beneath the dome. Clock faces, and the medallion portrait are intact. The fountain is no longer functional. Move to At Risk.
