Description
2-storey and attic, L-plan Meal Mill built into the bank. Squared, pinned, granite rubble. Single frame 6-spoke mid-breast iron wheel dated "1835 Grandholm Foundry" in west gable. Gabled loft entrance opening to bank at north. Small lean-to on south beside 2 doors and windows. Straight skews, slate roof, chimney over kiln (temporarily removed 1984). Still retains 2 pairs of meal stones, oat bruiser, pearl barley machine and drying kiln.
2 fires in late 19th century and the 1920s damaged modern machinery which has been repaired or rebuilt. Mill lade and dam still exist to north. Ceased working in 1940s. Wheel 1ft 11 inches wide by 10ft 6 inches diameter. The projecting arm ruinous. (Historic Scotland)

Development History
June 1993: External inspection reveals the mill to be in disrepair, having stood vacant since the 1940s. October 1995: External inspection reveals the mill to have fallen into further disrepair. January 1997: The owner reports that she has sold some land surrounding the mill to pay for the conversion of the millhouse. February 1998: The owner reports that she has commissioned a local architect to produce plans for the conversion of the mill into residential accommodation. May 1999: The mill is advertised for sale via Stewart and Watson at offers over £30,000. November 2001: Local planners report that new owners are seeking the restoration of the mill.
December 2007: External inspection finds the property vacant, unsecured and in very poor condition.
October 2010: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous site visit. The property continues to deteriorate.
November 2010: Listed Building Consent & Full Planning Permission for Alteration and Conversion of Former Corn Mill and Ancillary Buildings to Form Residential Accommodation and Hydro Equipment Housing has been approved ref: APP/2009/1126 & APP/2009/1125.
1 August 2013: Architects for the building advise the building has had a scheme of repairs carried out and is now wind and watertight. Condition and risk level altered accordingly. Options for re-use of the building are being explored.
17 October 2013: External inspection finds the building has been re-roofed and a large excavation has taken place on the North side. Full restoration is anticipated shortly. Moved to Restoration in Progress.
