Development History
May 1988: The Corry Lodge Estate is marketed for sale. July 1990: The coachhouse and steading are again marketed for sale, along with the rest of the Corry Lodge Estate. Outline Planning Permission exists for conversion into 8 dwellings. August 1990: External inspection reveals that the coachhouse and steading lie derelict, though they retain their roofs. The west and east elevations are severely bowed. March 1994: Local planners report that Magnus Gunnarsson architect is to carry out a feasibility study into conversion into flats. June 1995: Permissions are sought for conversion into a dwelling. December 1996: Local planners report that the plans are not now likely to progress and the property may be sold. January 1998: Local planners report that the owner has recommissioned his architect to amend the previous conversion scheme. April 1999: Listed Building Consent for alteration to former dairy/steading to form church granted (ref: 99/00096/LBCSL). January 2000: Local planners report no change. August 2001: Local planners report that they have visited the site and restoration has not yet commenced. January 2004: Local planners report that they have written to the owner to enquire as to his intentions. July 2007: Local planners report that the building is deteriorating. They note significant vegetation growth, missing rainwater goods, missing doors and all panes of glass are now broken.
May 2010: Local planners report that the condition of the buildings is deteriorating significantly. There may be issues concerning public safety.
August 2010: External inspection finds the buildings have deteriorated considerably since our previous visit. The steading is a roofless shell with fully grown trees inside. The coachhouse is in better condition. It retains its roof, though maintenance would be beneficial. Bushes are growing on the roof. Rainwater goods have been lost, as has the glazing. The window frames survive, but in poor condition.
4 June 2013: External inspection finds some vegetation has been cut back from the steading but otherwise there is little change from the previous site visit.
21 May 2021: A member of the public advises that work was carried out to some of the corrugated iron roof to the front of the building using a mixture of concrete and roofing felt earlier in 2021. Vegetation is also being cleared around the site. There may be plans to convert this site to a distillery but this is unconfirmed.
