Description
Single storey 4 bay dwelling with store, rubble-built and topped with a slate roof, on pier. (Historic Scotland)
Dunvegan is a Macleod estate village replacing an earlier settlement around the Castle. Various simple buildings designed or altered by Alexander Ross (contractors: Messrs Joass) include: Dunvegan Hotel, 1868-9 (a temperance hotel until 1947), and the Estate Office (Dunvegan House), early 19th century, the factor's house and later post office, altered and extended 1875. Pier, 1865 (succeeding Telford's just to south, of 1815). (M. Miers)

Development History
March 1996: External inspection reveals the store to be unused and falling into disrepair. January 2004: Local planners report that they have written to the owners to enquire about their intentions for the building.
September 2010: External inspection finds the building has deteriorated markedly since our previous visit. In particular, the roof is in very poor condition. The ridge has almost entirely been lost, there are a number of holes and a well establised bush is growing on the east pitch. The windows and doors have been lost. A neighbour informed us that the owners have an intention to convert and lease it to a shell fisherman as a storage building.
5 June 2013: External inspection finds deterioration continues with the roof showing marked decline. The building is not wind and watertight and trees are growing through the roof.
22 February 2024: desk-based assessment suggests the building remains disused
