Description
Gabled 2 storey 3 bay house with basement and attic, dating from the mid 18th century but altered into a shooting lodge for Sir Robert Menzies between 1798 and 1803. During this remodelling, 2-3 storey asymmetrical wings with splayed ends were added to the north and south. The substantial porch and oriel bay windows date from c.1840. The lodge served as a Wellesley school during the war. The attic dormers were removed in 1967.

Development History
1985: The lodge is gutted by fire. A demolition application is subsequently lodged. 1987: Permission to demolish the central section only is granted, but the lodge is bought by purchasing restorers before this permission is exercised. June 1990: SCT understands that the lodge has now been acquired for restoration as a family home. Scaffolding has been erected. External inspection reveals that the rear and adjacent outbuildings appear to be occupied. January 2001: The owners report that they intend to carry out works to the lodge. October 2003: The owners reiterate their commitment to seeing the lodge restored. Their conservation programme continues at a steady pace, with the walls strengthened by steel joists and a new roof erected. Slating of the roof is due for completion in early 2004. 25 of the original sash windows have been restored. The south wing has now been floored, whilst the rear of the north wing is occupied by the owners. The owners would not be prepared to sell. December 2003: Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust reports that restoration works continue slowly.
July 2009: Site visit finds restoration works continue. The roof has been rebuilt. Most of the building has been floored. Work is ongoing plastering the walls. A new front door has been fitted. The owner hopes to live in one part of the house while using the remainder as holiday accommodation. At present, the owner has no end date in mind.
July 2011: External inspection finds restoration work continues. The exterior work has been completed. The interior is being tackled on a room-by-room basis. A new front door is in place.
9 January 2014: External inspection finds the restoration appears to be nearing completion.
9 July 2021: Listed building consent is being sought for internal alterations (21/00933/LBC).
15 July 2024: Previously noted listed building consent for internal alterations (21/00933/LBC) was conditionally granted, 03/08/2021.
