Development History
9 December 1988: The Fraserburgh Herald reports that Banff and Buchan District Council has approved repairs including a new roof and windows, the repointing of masonry, and the rebuilding of chimneys. August 1989: The church is vacant. It is proposed to reduce the walls to 2 metres in height and grass over the interior. SCT objects and the application is withdrawn. The church is subsequently acquired by Banff and Buchan District Council. November 1990: External inspection reveals that the roof structure remains intact and the rubble masonry is in good condition. All glazing has now been lost, but the openings are secure. SCT understands the interior has been stripped. November 1996: SCT understands that some repairs have been carried out.
February 2008: External inspection finds the church appears to have been long-term vacant and unmaintained. There are missing roof slates and blocked/ leaking rainwater goods. One window opening is no longer boarded up and is open to the elements.
November 2010: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous site visit. Deterioration continues, particularly of the interior - that which could be viewed through a window - notably.
22 October 2013: External inspection finds the interior has been largely stripped out and the walls are very damp. Otherwise, it remains in much the same condition as seen previously.
