Development History
October 2007: External inspection reveals the building to be vacant and appears to be unmaintained externally.
May 2010: External inspection finds the building in generally good condition, but remains disused.
March 2011: A member of the public contacts SCT with further information on the property - during the 1970s the building was in use as public conveniences maintained by the local council. Thought to have closed due to vandalism.
10 September 2012: The building is being marketed for sale, through agents Shepherd Commercial, as a development opportunity at offers over £70,000. The sale particulars note the building is effectively a shell having been last in use as toilets. A rear garden is included in the sale.
8 October 2013: The property is being marketed for sale through SVA Property Auctions.
30 October 2013: The building is understood to have sold at auction for £37500.
14 January 2014: Listed Building Consent for change of use and extension to form 2 flats is being sought ref: 13/03912/LBC.
20 May 2014: External inspection finds the property remains in much the same condition as seen previously. Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for conversion to form 2 flats were conditionally approved Mar/ Feb 2014 ref: 13/03909/FULL & 13/03912/LBC, a Building Warrant is under consideration ref: 14/01191/NBH.
16 October 2018: External inspection finds no significant change. Deterioration continues. Litter is collecting at the entrances. There is a small cavity in the wall beneath the light fixture above the right entrance doorway.
3 May 2024: Full planning permission (22/03304/FULL) was conditionally granted for change of use from public convenience to form a dwelling, 11/01/2023. A building warrant related to planning consent has been approved. The address on application is noted as 25 Excise Street, record updated with additional address.
