Development History
November 2007: External inspection reveals the church to be unused and showing signs of lack of basic maintenance and repair. Past repointing using cement rich mortars is accelerating the decay of the adjacent soft red sandstone. The Mearns Leader reports the church was sold in 2004 after the union of congregations in Benholm and Johnshaven.
August 2010: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous site visit. The building continues to deteriorate.
19 August 2013: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously. Cement pointing to the West elevation is causing stone decay.
