Development History
June 2006: Local planners contact SCT suggesting the inclusion of the complex on the Register.
September 2008: External inspection finds the former crofting complex unused. There are numerous slipped roof slates and some holes in the roofs. Windows and doors mostly remain but in poor condition. The beehive kiln is in fair condition.
March 2010: External inspection finds the barn and kiln remain derelict. The roof is still largely intact, though damaged in parts and deteriorating. The kiln appears to be much the same condition as on our previous visit.
27 June 2014: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously. Further slate loss from the barn roof is evident.
4 October 2022: External inspection finds further deterioration of the roof of the barn. A large portion of stone roofing slabs on the southwestern section have been lost, exposing the timber structure. Further roof slab loss has occurred on the North elevation pitch as well. The walls and kiln appear to be in similar condition to previous site visits. Refer to separate entry (ref: 3681) for adjacent cottage.
