Development History
Oct 1999: Building warrant and listed building consent approved for erection of 9 dwellinghouses and conversion of the existing house to 3 flats.
April 2009: External inspection reveals that the house is vacant and boarded up. The building has been fenced off for safety and security purposes and a sign warning that the building is dangerous has been affixed. The building is understood to have last been in use as a care home and day care centre.
September 2009: Berwickshire News reports on the issuing of a building warrant for the conversion of Trafalger House and erection of new build houses in the grounds. The article goes on to report the owners of the site, Guardian Homes, has struggled to secure financing for the scheme, and are unlikely to proceed with the development in the near future.
September 2011: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous site visit.
22 March 2019: Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent for conversion to an HMO dwelling were conditionally approved May 2018 (17/00850/FUL & 17/00989/LBC).
