Development History
May 2010: Local planners report the pier is in a poor state of repair with quite extensive weathering and decay to some of the masonry, most joints in the masonry are open which is clearly compromising the long term structural integrity. There has already been significant structural collapse in places. The structure is added to the Register.
19 June 2012: Inspection finds the pier continues to deteriorate. Several sections of the parapet are close to collapse. Further masonry has been lost from the section which had been partially collpased at our previous visit.
4 October 2013: Inspection finds the pier remains at risk and continues to decay.
29 November 2018: Inspection finds the pier continues to deteriorate - loose, missing masonry and washed out mortar. A further loss of stonework at the pierhead is in evidence.
23 February 2024: Desk-based assessment suggests the building remains At-Risk.
