Description

4 storey stone built tenement with basement, end of a terrace of three known collectively as Buckingham Terrace.

The Terrace appears on the 3rd edition (1:2;500 series) OS map, but not the 2nd.

Development History
December 2009: External inspection finds the tenement in extremely poor condition. The building is open to the elements and the sound of water dripping throughout the structure can be heard. Alterations to tenement incorporating change to roof shape, installation of new rooflights and installation of replacement windows was approved July 2008. Works have commenced on 16 Castle Street but have yet to start on 14 or 12 Castle Street.
January 2010: Alterations to tenements incorporating change to roof shape, installations roof light windows and formation of dormer windows (amendment to Planning Permission 08/00658/DET) (partially retrospective) was approved Jan 2001 ref: 09/01593/PP.
30 August 2012: External inspection finds no significant change from the previous site visit. However windows have now been boarded over. Application for a Building Warrant for alterations and refurbishment of the tenement row was refused May 2012 ref: 11/00023/ALTER.
6 December 2012: Local planners advise the company who owned Buckingham Terrace, Barryrange Ltd, are in administration with Campbell Dallas appointed as administrators. Campbell Dallas have engaged Graham Sibblad to consider the marketing of the site.
15 April 2013: 10-14 Castle Street is being marketed for sale through Future Property Auction on instructions of Administrators.
1 July 2016: A member of the public advises the terrace's condition is deteriorating and that (as reported in The Buteman newspaper 23/10/2015) Police Scotland had uncovered a cannabis farm in the buildings.
12 November 2018: 12-16 Castle Street is being marketed for sale through auction, at a guide price of £100,000, by Auction House Scotland.
19 March 2019: A member of the public notes the condition of the terrace has continued to deteriorate. During recent high winds boarding to windows has been blown into the buildings. The site is advised to be re-advertised for sale through auction shortly.
15 April 2019: The building is being marketed for sale through auction as part of a single lot covering 4 tenements. Auction House Scotland is marketing the lot at a guide price of £100,000 plus fees.
