Development History
23 October 2013: Nominated for the Register by Glasgow City Council. For Investigation.
16 December 2013: Local planners advise they conducted an external inspection 3/12/13. The building appears to be either disused or very occasionally used. Overall the building is in reasonable condition due to metal sheeted roof. There is evidence of structural ties previously being installed at the building. Full Planning Permission and Listed Building Consent were gained in 2009 (ref: 09/00865/DC and 09/00865/DC) for use of the property as a business centre and boxing gym - but these do not appear to have been brought to bear in full.
29 May 2014: External inspection finds the office building to the West semi-restored with new glazing and watertight but unfinished. The 3 storey central block houses a boxing gym to upper floors but no other uses are evident. The rear sheds are in poor condition and appear either unused or used as storage space. The warehouse range to the East has not been restored and the roof appears in poor repair.
19 March 2019: A member of the public notes sheds to the rear of the complex have been cleared.
26 July 2019: A member of the public notes the warehouse range appears to be in use, possibly for storage.
12 November 2019: A member of the public notes a number of recent redevelopment proposals for the wider site. Listed Building Consent for alterations to the buildings to form offices has been conditionally approved 18/01977/LBA.
22 April 2022: Local planners note the property is being marketed for lease. Spectrum Properties is advertising the site as workshop space.
11 January 2023: Member of the public has advised that consent for change of use has been approved. Full planning permission and listed building consent for use as a cafe and bakery have been conditionally approved. (22/02275/FUL) (22/02276/LBA)
31 May 2023: External inspection finds that the restoration of the warehouse is underway. The warehouse roof has been updated to metal, like the adjacent office block. It appears that the windows have recently been updated as well. Scaffold is currently in place around the warehouse and the rear of the site is secured by fencing. Move to Restoration in Progress and Condition set as Good.
