Development History
19 October 2020: Nominated for the Register by local planner as disused with consent for demolition and replacement with dwellings (19/01099/CAC) being sought. For Investigation.
11 November 2022: External inspection finds the building appears to be at least in partial use for flooring retail storage. There are signs of previous stabilisation and repair works to the southwest corner, including metal strapping and the infilling of cracks. It does not appear that these repairs have been damaged by further movement. Due to previous movement, there are misaligned sections of masonry on the southwest corner and the closest window surround. There are some open joints on the chimney at the rear elevation. The circular window above the entry is covered by a timber sheet. The remaining windows and doors are intact and secured. There is some graffiti on the rear elevation and building waste between the east elevation and the boundary wall. Much of the building is in fair condition but defects related to structural movement are in poor condition.
Conservation Area Consent for demolition of the building and replacement with housing (19/01099/CAC)remains undecided. The supporting documentation for the application details the long standing issues with movement in the building (internal steel ties being attached to the external steel plates) which are stated to be ongoing.
