Development History
August 1990: Inspection reveals the range to remain in part use as stables by a tenant with 3 more years to run on their lease. Meanwhile, the remainder of the property rests empty and is deteriorating. March 2000: Local planners report that the stables remain at risk. April 2003: Local planners report interest in converting the property. June 2005: The local planners report that there have been discussions with the owner, their architects and the local council regarding the redevelopment of the stables.
February 2008: External inspection reveals the left range of the (formerly) U plan steading has been demolished. The surviving buildings are in very poor condition. Approximately half of the roofs have been lost as have all the windows and doors. The walls are damp, mossy and in need of repointing.
June 2010: External inspection finds that the two main ranges are in largely the same condition as on our previous visit. Part of the wall of the linking, corner section has collapsed.
16 December 2014: External inspection finds the buildings remain in much the same condition as seen previously. Listed Building Consent for the demolition of the building was lodged but withdrawn ref: 14/02092/LBC. Full Planning Permission for the construction of 16 dwellings on the surrounding land was renewed Jun 2013 ref: 13/00544/AMD.
18 November 2019: A member of the public advises only the block containing the doocot remains extant.
20 May 2024: Listed building consent (16/02030/LBC) was conditionally granted for the demolition of farm buildings (in retrospect) and reinstatement and repair of the doocot.
