3-bay, single storey, basement and attic farmhouse. Harled with granite margins at angles and openings. Centre door and flanking windows to front have block cornices on brackets, 12-pane glazing pattern; pair of canted dormers to front, straight skews, ashlar end stacks, slate roof. (Historic Scotland)

Development History
October 1991: External inspection reveals the farmhouse to be vacant and somewhat rundown. October 1995: External inspection reveals no change. February 1997: The Monymusk Land Co. reports that full restoration is estimated at £500,000 and the farm is subject to vandalism. 1998: Local planners report that Monymusk Land Co. has spent £10,000 on repairs works, including the lining and ventilating of chimneys and the bricking up of windows. January 2004: Local planners report that the farmhouse remains in poor condition. May 2004: The Monymusk Land Co. reports that it remains committed to the eventual repair and reuse of all the estate buildings. November 2007: External inspection reveals the building remains vacant. The basement and ground windows have been blocked-up. The attic windows are missing some window panes and the window frames appear to be in poor condition. There are missing and loose slates on the roof.
August 2009: The property, along with the steading, is being marketed for sale by Strutt and Parker.
October 2010: External inspection finds no significant change from the last site visit. The property is no longer being marketed for sale and Listed Building Consent & Full Planning Permission have been granted with conditions for Demolition of Existing Rear Extension, Erection of Replacement Extension and Erection of Garage Including Ancillary Residential Unit

21 August 2013: External inspection finds the building's dormer windows are beginning to decay significantly. Otherwise, it remains in much the same condition as seen previously.
10 April 2014: Listed Building Consent for the renovation of the property was conditionally approved May 2011 ref: APP/2010/0150.
18 February 2016: Braehead Farmhouse, with the associated steading and 27 acres of land, is being marketed for sale at offers over £450,000 through agents Savills.
22 April 2016: A member of the public advises the property is understood have been sold to new owners.
January 2017: A member of the public advises the surrounding grounds have been cleared and a new access road constructed.
1 February 2019: Amendments (APP/2019/0183 & APP/2018/3059) are being sought for revision to previously approved consents for restoration and extension of the dwelling (APP/2016/2436; APP/2016/2439; APP/2018/2554; APP/2018/0406).
