Description

Gothic folly built of snecked rubble with ashlar dressings and quoins to celebrate Wellington's victory at Waterloo. Each elevation features a single window at ground floor level with hood moulds, operating as a doorway on 1 side. The upper level features single or triple lancet Gothic windows with hood moulds. Only the first few steps of the original stone stairway remain, although the upper floor does retain some original plasterwork.

Development History
December 1993: External inspection reveals the roof to be partly missing, and the foot of the tower littered with fallen masonry. Most internal floors and fittings have been lost, and vegetation is taking hold, particularly at the top of the tower. December 2002: No change reported. September 2006: Local planning authority report that they are in discussions with a potential restoring purchaser.
April 2008: External inspection finds the tower continuing to deteriorate. The castelations are unsafe, especially to the east and the surrounding area is scattered with fallen masonry.
August 2010: The tower was inaccessible on this occasion. From a distance, it appears that it remains in much the same condition as on our previous visit. The roof of the tower is overgrown.
1 April 2015: External inspection finds the building remains in much the same condition since the previous site visit.
14 February 2024: Desk-based assessment suggests the structure remains At-Risk.
