Description

Part of a short terrace of 7, 2-storey (possibly formerly single storey) pantiled houses. S elevations of Nos 4, 6 and 10 coursed over random rubble, No 4 cement render and No 10 dry dash; all random rubble to N. Raised stone margins. Eaves lintel course. Quoin strip to NW, droved quoins to SE and SW.

The traditional and vernacular character of this terrace is enhanced by the irregularity of traditional pantiles. School Lane, to the rear of the cottages, boasts a fine cobbled surface. (Historic Scotland)

Development History
March 2001: External inspection reveals the whole of Doctor's Row to be vacant and disused, save for No. 14 which is occupied and not at risk. December 2002: External inspection reveals that No. 6 has been restored. Nos. 12, 10 and 4 remain unoccupied and at risk. January 2004: External inspection reveals no change. September 2007: External inspection reveals the building to be in an advanced stage of decay. Urgent attention would be required to make the property wind and water tight.
November 2010: External inspection finds no significant change from the last site visit. The property continues to deteriorate and is a cause for concern.
28 May 2014: External inspection finds the pantiled roof has been removed and the roof has been felted with battons installed. Otherwise, the building remains in much the same condition as seen previously.
2 August 2018: External inspection finds the building in much the same condition as seen previously except for the installation of new pantiles on the roof. Stonework and pointing has deteriorated.
2 May 2024: Desk-based assessment suggests the building remains disused.
