Description

Dated CHRISTO AD MDCCCXLV. Tudor gothic, T-plan, 3-window ashlar gable front with central doorpiece, diagonal buttresses, pinnacles and cross finial. Castellated street wall with gatepiers.

Built as Burgher Church (style and manner of dating both unusual for such) and became East UP Church; united with West Church (in Madras Road, demolished) in 1873 as South UP Church. (Historic Scotland)

Development History
Sept 2007: External inspection reveals the roof appears to be in very poor condition. The property is secure but a number of window glazings have been broken. Identified in Fife Local Plans as a brownfield development opportunity.
November 2010: External inspection finds no significant change since the last site visit. The property continues to deteriorate and is a cause for concern.
10 June 2014: External inspection finds the former church remains in much the same condition as seen previously. Vegetation is encroaching the site.
17 April 2019: External inspection finds no significant change from previous visit. Extent of broken glass has increased. Vegetation continues to encroach.
2 May 2024: Desk-based assessment suggests the building remains At-Risk.
