Description
Single storey store/ workshop set into the side of upper road to the rear of 16 Shore Street. High pitched slated roof with rooflights and rendered gables. Would seem to appear on the 1st edition (1:2;500 series) OS map.
Portnahaven is a sheltered creek begun as a fishing settlement fostered by Walter Campbell of Foreland and Sutherland following his purchase of the Sunderland estate in 1788, more purposefully developed by his son Captain Walter Campbell, in the 1820s. Rows of three bay single storey and loft dwellings were built stepping gable to gable up the slopes around the bay. (FA Walker)

October 2009: External inspection finds this simple and attractive building in a fair condtion, but in need of maintenance. There are slipped and missing slates, rusted ridge capping and poor skews. The rooflights are rusted with broken panes.
